Private Self-Sustainable Animal Facility

Private Self-Sustainable Animal Facility
Contracted partners with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control Division, assists multiple neighboring animal programs, and aids the national community with the proper rehoming of exotic animals.

We offer a haven for exotic animals (including turtles, tortoises, and birds) that cannot be released into the wild.

We assist with the proper rehoming of exotic animals and serve as a partner for local animal control.

We educate on the importance of native and invasive species to prevent poaching..

The sanctuary is not open to the general public for walk-ins, but offers private, booked experiences.
Ken and Cherrice
Ken and Cherrice Purvee have been working together since 2001. We have been making raising plants and animals as natural as possible a life motto.
For over 25 years, always open to adopting herps. Making people feel secure knowing their loved animal has a happy home.
Mostly Tortoises and Turtles call Crazy Critters home. What makes us unique is that after adoption, Crazy Critters continues to share the lives of the pets on social media. Providing an additional continued connection.

As someone who relates to the reptile and loves them I am happy to support the Crazy Critters. I go and buy plants as often as I can to help and will do more as I can. I Believe in the Cause and think the owners are hard working and really care about the animals they care for.

I love everything they do at Crazy Critters! The animals they rescue truly come above everything! My kids and I have been there a few times and we are always pleased with what we see!!! Great habitats for the critters, an amazing variety of food for them, and above all, safety of every critter they have!

I’ll never forget y’all rescuing the iguana from under my car hood. When we called, you didn’t hesitate to help and we became friends. In the almost 20 years I’ve personally known you, my respect for you and what you do continues to grow. You’re a positive example for our community! Thank you!!!
